All of the jewelry in this collection are limited edition, small production cast pieces hand-crafted by Andrea Lucille Shin. I start with wax and carve the shape using wax files and small dental tools. After the shape is formed, the mechanics of linking together the various pieces into a design, such as a bracelet, or how it will hang, in the case of earrings, are worked out. Once each separate piece reaches its final shape in wax, I add the texture. Using a special tool, hatch marks are carved in selected areas to create a bark-like surface. After the piece is cast and cleaned, the parts are soldered together and findings added as needed. I then set any stones, polish the piece, set any pearls, and perform a final inspection for overall appearance and functionality.
